Portugese egg tart in Macau

I have written about the famous portugese egg tart in Macau before. The other famous shop that sells tasty portugese egg tart in Macau is Margaret O Nata's.

Margaret's Cafe portugese egg tart is comparable to Lord Stow's bakery in Macau, Coloanne. Which is better? It is difficult to choose between the two but I find Margaret's 'pou tart' ( that's what they would say in Cantonese) is a bit more crispier!
In terms of location, Margaret's Cafe e Nata is located in Macau main island so definitely more convenient for tourists. If you are having trouble finding it, it is near the Grand Emperor Hotel and close to Casino Lisboa approximately 10 minutes walk from there. If you see the jewellery shop called Chow Tai Fook near Casino Lisboa, it is behind this shop located in a small lane.

The original portugese egg tart in Lisbon

Since we have been talking about portugese egg tart, I would have to mention that the original portugese egg tart is found in Belem, Lisbon. It was discovered since 1837( yes the year is correct)

Well, if you ask me, I actually like the improvised version that you could find in Asia. The original version is more bland and the taste less strong compared with the ones you could find from Macau/Asia. Nevertheless, it is a must try if you do visit Lisbon.

Rua de Belem 84, Lisbon

Portugese egg tart for you?

Macau is famous for it's portugese egg tart. There are 2 famous ones that sells the portugese egg tart in Macau and most people would know it. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take photos from one of them, so I will just post one of the ones that I have tried.

This portugese egg tart ' pou tart ' is located in Coloane village ( Lo wan ). It has a fancy name , Lord Stow bakery. It sells like 3000 egg tarts a day.

The portugese egg tart is nice and fresh. The egg tart is of considerable size. The egg tart is not too 'eggy' and not too rich. There is a nice cinnamon topping on it. I have tasted the egg tarts at Margaret's and to be honest I do not know which one is better. You could let me know.

Besides Coloane is a nice village to visit. Small and peaceful, lovely for a stroll and 'digest' the air of Macau. So worth a visit if you are there in Macau.

Location: Lord Stow Bakery
Address: 1 Rua de Tassara,
Coloane Village, Macau

Taste- 7/10
Price- Moderate, 6MOP( about RM 3.00)
